Nora Surbey, Head Coach: Nora graduated from Woodson High School in 2016 and is now attending the University of Virginia. She swam with Brandywine for 13 years, has coached for two years, and was in charge of the Learn to Swim program one summer. She has been a swim instructor at LifeTime Fitness and is currently a USA swim coach in Charlottesville. Nora swam for 5 years with Shark Tank Racing Squad, swam all 4 years of high school on the varsity swim team and currently is on the Club Swim Team at UVA. Timour Abduhalikov, Assistant Coach: Timour graduated from Woodson High School in 2017 and is currently a student at the University of Virginia. He swam on Brandywine for 10 years, coached for one winter, and swam and coached for SOC pool for two years. In addition, he swam on Woodson's varsity swim team and Shark Tank for all four years of high school and was a captain of his high school team his senior year. Lance Page, Assistant Coach: Lance has been a part of the Barracuda swim team for a number of years and has been a long-time (25+ years) swimming and lifeguard training instructor for MNCPPC (Maryland Parks and Rec) and (for the past 20 years) for Fairfax County Park Authority (FCPA), and USA Swimming Coach for 8+ years.
Lance LOVES swimming and sees his work as a coach as his way of 'giving back to the community' as well as contributing to the generations of children that have learned to love the pool. He believes swimming is truly a life long sport/skill that the kids can use/benefit from for a lifetime. email@example.com
Molly Thompsen, Minis Coach: Molly finds great joy in sharing her love of the water with others. In the last decade, she has worked with thousands of swimmers aged 6 mos -89 years young and has enjoyed assisting them in reaching and surpassing their swimming goals. Molly has been fortunate to work with the Brandywine Pool Community for the past five years both as a Deck and Developmental Coach and as the Instructor of Baby + Me, Adult Beginner and Fitness Swim Group Lessons. As a Scuba-Certified, Long-Distance Swimming, marine (concentrated) Biologist, Molly has benefitted greatly through her relationship with aquatics and looks forward to building the foundation for a lifetime of fun with your aspiring swimmers. georgetowngurl
William To, Junior Coach: William To is a varsity swimmer at West Springfield High School and a long-time Brandywine Barracuda. He has found that swimming has always been a way for him to relax and forget everything around him. Swimming has allowed him to not only stay fit, but to meet new friends and create new relationships with coaches. His sister, Holly, has generously passed on her tips and tricks to helping our swimmers become the best that they can possibly be. He looks forward to meeting the new upcoming swimmers to be and helping them achieve their goals with as much fun in between.
Heather McCall, Junior Coach: Heather McCall is returning to Brandywine this year after coaching and planning the team pep rallies last year. She has been a Brandywine Barracuda for five years now and has loved every second of it! Along with swimming she also plays ice hockey and manages Brandywine's Learn to Swim program. She loves spending time with all of the members of Brandywine, both young and old. She looks forward to spending time with her friends on the team this summer as well as teaching our swimmers and helping them grow to become the best swimmers possible!
Katie Little, Junior Coach: Katie Little has been swimming at Brandywine since she was 4 years old, and has been on the Shark Tank Racing Squad for the past 7 years. This past year, she swam on the varsity swim and dive team at Woodson High School and was a Brandywine Winter Swim coach. Katie loves swimming not only because it is great exercise, but because it is a valuable lifelong skill. Katie is super excited for the upcoming season and meeting all of the new swimmers! She is looking forward to helping everyone get faster and have fun!
Bonnie Bishop, Junior Coach: Bonnie Bishop has been swimming with Brandywine ever since she was a Mini Barracuda. She has really enjoyed working hard during swim meets while also having fun with her teammates. Previously, she has worked with Brandywine's Learn to Swim program and lifeguarded for two years. She hopes to pass on the value of sportsmanship that she has learned through being on the team onto other swimmers. She wants to also help every swimmer enjoy being a part of the team so that they're eager to come back every year.
Cora Lundgren, Junior Coach: Cora Lundgren has been a member of the Brandywine Barracudas for the last 8 years. She is a 2018 Woodson High School graduate and will be studying biology and political science at Northeastern University the fall. She was a member of the Woodson Varsity Swim and Dive team and is a year round member of the Shark Tank Racing Squad swim team. Last year she was a Brandywine junior coach and Learn to Swim coach. On the off-season, she is a swim coach and instructor at Lifetime Fitness. Cora loves the summer time and looks forward to making this season one of the best!
